information

places to explore

There's a lot to see in the area - here's some information about the nearby towns.

Avignon

Avignon is ancient, full of history, life, youth, art, music and activity. Just to "see" the town itself, you could wander the narrow streets inside the fortified walls for days without tiring of them.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a medieval village on the side of a hill, guarded by the ruins of an ancient chateau towering above. From the chateau hill you have an outstanding view in all directions, mostly of vineyards, of course. Off to the east and south, the Rhône river winds across the fields, and the afternoon sun turns it silver.

Orange

Orange is an ancient Roman town in Provence, on the east side of the Rhône and north of Avignon. The historic center of Orange is like a small town with narrow streets, picturesque squares and its famous Roman Theatre and Triumphal Arch.

Lirac

Lirac is located at the edge of a wide, flat plain along the west side of the Rhône, and area of vineyards for Côte du Rhône and rosé wines. West of the village are the low hills and tree-covered garrigue. This is a small farming village, less developed than neighboring St-Laurent-des-Arbres to the north or Tavel to the South.
